My Story
Hello! My name is Julie Scroggs, and I am the founder of this Practice. One of my greatest missions in life is to help others overcome shame and accept themselves as valued individuals. I am a warm, compassionate therapist who will see the strengths in you when you cannot. I offer a friendly, non-judgmental approach while holding space as you uncover areas of shame, grief, loss, and life’s disappointments. Many have described me as “grounding, nurturing, and safe.”
I bring a comprehensive set of skills that I believe are valuable to my clients. I strive to be in tune with the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community and am anti-racist. I am rooted in and through the attachment lens while extensively trained in trauma therapy through
interpersonal experiential therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) modalities.
When I am not working, my people are essential to me. They include (but are not limited to) my family, including my partner, two young adult children, my siblings, and my four (yes, you read that correctly) golden retrievers. In addition, I love to spend time outside with family and friends, hiking, finding fun and local food spots, exploring the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, and traveling!
A little bit more about me: In 2018, I earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Asheville, North Carolina. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in North Carolina. I work with individuals who struggle with mental health, identity, and addiction issues and have been in the mental health/addiction field for over a decade.
I am a Qualified Supervisor (QS), LCMHC, LCAS.
