My Story
Life is full of ups and downs whether you are a child, teen, or caregiver, and there is no one “right” way to do it. Part of what brought me to the field of therapy was a desire and ability to create a space for those to feel safe, seen, and understood when navigating these significant moments of life.
When entering a therapeutic space with a child/teen I prioritize building a felt sense of trust and safety as this creates the building blocks not only for a positive relationship but for the growth and healing that can come from therapy. No one wakes up one day knowing how to “be a person” and therapy is a place where children/teens can learn to understand the relationship between their environment, thoughts and feelings, and how to communicate their needs with others.
My approach to therapy is child-led/person-centered and rooted in grief, Health at Every Size (HAES), and trauma-informed practices. I am a firm believer that no one strategy/tool/approach works for every person, so my goal is to tailor (pun intended) my approach and to work with you/your child to find what is best for you, your child, and your family. Some areas of current expertise include acceptance and commitment therapy, expressive arts, mindfulness, play therapy techniques, body neutrality, family systems theory, and dialectical behavior(DBT) skills, just to name a few. I am also an advocate and member of the LGBTQIA+ community and embrace my own neurodiversity (ADHD).
I received both my Bachelor's (2018) and Master's (2019) degrees in Social Work from the University of South Florida-Tampa. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina.
When I am not working I can be found either snuggled up with my two precious kitties working on a puzzle while watching anime or out on a trail with friends spending some good time in nature.
