My Story

Welcome! I’m Erin Baker, a clinical mental health counselor with Winter to Spring Wellness. I am originally from the Midwest, and after a decade of working in education and mental health organizations domestically and internationally, I came to find that counseling was what I wanted to do and felt truest to who I am. I have always come most alive in working alongside folks in the nitty-gritty of what matters to all of us- life and being human, in all its complexity. I graduated with my M.A. in clinical mental health counseling in 2022 and can honestly say I love what I do.

Both experience and research show therapy can be effective. I emphasize a relational-cultural approach to counseling which means safe exploration of patterns in how you show up with yourself and others is key; we all have our ways we’ve had to adapt and avoid to stay safe, but these strategies we’re often not even aware of frequently get in the way of our mental/emotional wellbeing and the authentic life we most want. I integrate a variety of tools (such as CBT, IFS, mindfulness, attachment and neuroscience, body-based, and trauma-informed modalities, to name a few) to suit your goals and preferences, but I’m doing my job if you notice a truer, safer, and more satisfying sense of awareness and connection to yourself and others in which you can manage your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with greater compassion, comfort, and regularity. . . basically that you expand your capacity to feel more like yourself more often in your life and relationships.

I am a research and training nerd. It’s important to me that I am an excellent professional for my clients, but at the heart of what I do is being a human in the room with you where you feel safe to see and process all of the parts of yourself and your world. Clients have described me as down-to-earth, warm, and secure, with plenty of room for honesty and humor in session.

When I’m not working, you will find me out on a trail with my dogs, traveling and exploring, listening to live music, or spending time with family and friends. Connection, self-ownership, and wellness are lifelong journeys for all of us, and I’ll be honored to be invited into this part of yours.
