My Story
Sometimes, we are looking for someone to hold our hope for us. Throughout my life, I have been drawn to the story, the lore of identity, the narrative of families, and the truth inside the metaphor. I feel it is of the utmost importance to provide people with a safe space to share their truth, a place to be honest and seen while challenging the stories we tell ourselves. As a person, I hope to be a lantern that can help to illuminate the way for you to reclaim your story.
As a therapist, I received my bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Columbia International University in 2012, followed by my master’s in clinical counseling in 2016, after which I worked in high-acuity inpatient treatment centers for five years. Within this work, I have focused on acute and chronic eating disorder recovery, and I specialize in disordered eating and follow a HAES model to support the restoration of internal beliefs around the complexity of body image and maladaptive coping through disordered eating. I have a true heart for supporting sexual trauma victims in finding their voices while reclaiming and rebuilding their stories, and I intend to show up with complete compassion and authenticity.
As a trauma therapist, I believe in working with many clinical approaches to find what is best for your healing. Within ACT therapy, mindfulness, polyvagal support, and an attachment lens, I can help you to find a way through your body’s reactivity. As the body reacts both neurobiologically and psychologically to heightened stress – especially in the face of perceived danger after trauma – creating a safe space and trusting environment is essential to the work of both present and future healing.
When I am not working, I love to practice yoga, read melancholy Russian literature, and go to live music around Asheville. I have a heart for communal living and love supporting my local organic Co-op through volunteer work and community. I also engage in eating disorder recovery support and sexual abuse recovery resources in our community while trying to build up the love and tear down the stigma. I love nature with my whole heart and am somewhere on a mountain most weekends.
I specialize in:
Disordered eating/eating disorders issues.
