My Story
Hi! My name is Alisa, which is pronounced Aleeca. I’ve always had a passion for helping others personally and professionally. I’ve always wanted to connect with people in meaningful work and help people in any way that I can. I’ve struggled to navigate my way through the world with my racial identity as an African American woman. I became a therapist to assist others in navigating through the world while being confident in their identity.
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, person-centered, and attachment-based. I utilize a combination of different modalities and techniques, including motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Do you struggle to manage the everyday stressors that overwhelm and exhaust you? Have you been struggling to find time for yourself because you’re too busy being everything to everyone else? You might be struggling to figure out how you identify. You might feel like no one understands you or accepts you as you are. I want you to know that you are not alone.I will provide a neutral space for you to be authentically and unapologetically yourself. I will show up for you and accept you as you are. I will assist you in navigating the difficulties and challenges of life. I hope to make you feel heard, seen, and validated. I hope to highlight your strengths and empower you to find out how to utilize them.
I’ve lived in Western North Carolina for about 23 years. I have worked with survivors of domestic violence for 3+ years. I have worked with extensive trauma and assisted in empowering individuals who have experienced trauma. I have worked with individuals struggling with the barriers of systemic oppression while navigating their racial identity. I’ve worked with individuals who have substance use disorders. I’ve worked with individuals who are struggling to accept how they identify.
When I’m not working, I like to read, write, and watch true crime documentaries. I also enjoy swimming and spending quality time with family, friends, and my partner.
I specialize in:
Domestic Violence
Racial Identity/BIPOC
